This insight comes from one of my favourite theologians and biblical scholars.
One of the ways the bible presents heaven is the party.
Everyone is invited to this party. Not just the rich people, the popular people, or the leaders, or the fashionable. If you don’t have nice clothes, you can still come. If you don’t have any friends, you can still come. If you have dirt on your face, you can still come. The door is open to everyone and there is a seat just for you at the table where there is a delicious feast.
You don’t have to worry about being alone or not being included. Everyone will welcome you because you belong at the party.
God is the host of this party. If you don’t like him, you don’t have to go to his house. If you don’t want to get to know him and spend time with him, you don’t have to go to the party.
You never have to go to the party but you are always welcome. God won’t force you to go if you don’t want to. But you’ll be missing out if you stay home.
At this party there is no pain, cruelty, injustice, war, famine, poverty, violence, hatred, fear, or sadness. There is only love, joy, peace, kindness, freedom, dancing, laughter, great food, family, and friends. If you want to be part of this, then come to the party.
The best news of all is this party lasts forever. And it’s coming to Earth. Will you accept God’s invitation to the party?
