Here’s a thought:
In movies and books, the most powerful and meaningful stories (the stories we love most) have characters that grow. They are not the same at the end as they were at the start.
The way they grow is through conflict, challenge, ‘lost it all’ moments, i.e. pain. The greater the pain they go through, the greater their growth (and the greater their impact is on the watcher or reader).
Pain is not an obstacle to growth; it is a path.
This is true in movies and books, and it’s true in life.
I need to look at pain in a new way. I need to stop avoiding pain. I need to persevere through pain.
‘Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.’ – James 1:4 (NIV)
